Dear Safeguarding Officers, Club Chairs, and Club Secretaries,
We hope you are having a great start to the 2024-2025 netball season. 🤩
As always, please think about sharing some of the information below with players, parents and carers in your club. 📩
|
- Please ensure that any new volunteers have been assigned a role in ENgage and have joined the membership for 2024-2025. You can find out how to assign a role here.
- Take some time to discuss the expected standards with your members, players, and parents, for example sharing England Netball's Codes of Conduct and who the Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO). This will promote open communication and ensure individuals know who to approach with their concerns. This information can also be shared on posters, social media channels and websites
- We would like to clarify the requirements for volunteers in terms of DBS checks, training, etc., depending on their role. You can find more information here.

We are hosting informal drop-in Zoom sessions for County and Club Safeguarding Officers (CSOs) and anyone else who would like to join. Meet the team, ask questions and tell England Netball how they can support you in your role. Register to attend by clicking the following links:

We have developed some netball-specific, scenario-based training which we will deliver in the next few months for CSOs (and anyone else who is interested). This training will help clubs recognise early signs of safeguarding concerns and how to take action before they escalate further. The first session will be 30 October 2024, 6:30-8pm. Register below.

Here are some other great free sport-related training courses to explore:

At England Netball, we have now introduced a new 'Non-Weighing of Athletes Policy'. This now means that clubs and coaches cannot weigh under 18 athletes in virtually any circumstances.
|
Also, new concussion guidance has been released by the UK government. Please share with coaches and first aiders in your club.
|
From 7 – 11 October, it is 'Keeping Your Child Safe in Sport week'. Follow the link above for guidance on hosting an event and promoting safety and safeguarding for your players, parents, and community.
There is also a video you could share here and a toolkit you can use here.
