Hi John,
Spring is finally here! ๐ท
As you read this Safeguarding Newsletter, please consider sharing it (or specific parts) with parents and carers in your club โ they may benefit from the information too. ๐

EN's Safeguarding team are hosting informal drop-in sessions on Zoom for county and club safeguarding officers (CSOs) and anyone else who wants to join.
Meet the team, ask questions and share your thoughts on what further support England Netball could offer you in your role. Feel free to come along to one of the following sessions: |
An impressive 250 of you completed our Safeguarding Survey in January - thank you! ๐
We learned that:
- Most CSOs have a job or other background in safeguarding.
- Virtually all of you know how to contact the England Netball safeguarding team, but only a few have needed to
- Most of those who have contacted us were happy with the response, but there is still room for improvement
- There were a lot of comments about how difficult it is to be a volunteer and how training can be a barrier
- You wanted more contact from us and more information
Weโre addressing these concerns with the drop-in sessions, newsletters and the website โ details below. Also, quite a few CSOs need to complete the 'Time to Listen' training โ more on this below.
We really appreciate the time and energy you all put into the sport, so thank you again. ๐ |

We're pleased to announce that nearly all new Sport Welfare Officers (SWOs) have now been recruited. Their role is to support all sports and they have been briefed about netball, including our structure, clubs and volunteers.
To find your local SWO click the button below. It's worth noting they wonโt be investigating or handling safeguarding cases, however, they can help with training club safeguarding officers, promoting best practices and visiting and supporting clubs with welfare issues.

All CSOs are required to complete the Time to Listen training course and renew it every three years.
We understand that some of you have had difficulties accessing the online training. The main provider is UK Coaching, and you can click the button below to learn more and book the training directly. |
However, another suitable provider, Active Partnerships, also hosts Time to Listen training courses which you can find here:
And, if your club has adults with care and support needs, you might want to check out these courses (though they are not mandatory):
|
Finally, Dickon and Carolina will be developing netball scenario-based training sessions in the upcoming months. These training sessions will be delivered to CSOs (and any other interested individuals) later this year. If you have any suggestions about what to include in the training, please provide details via the button below.
