Find out the latest safeguarding news from England Netball
We need to talk Safeguarding! |
This is an exciting time for England Netball as we're sending out our newly formatted Safeguarding Newsletter! We want to introduce a more regular Safeguarding communication for us to share knowledge and provide support to all volunteer Safeguarding/Welfare Officers in Clubs, Leagues, Counties and Regions.
Every few months we will discuss a key topic, identifying how we can all enhance safeguarding and ensure its best practice, together.
|
Do you have a specific topic you would like us to cover? |
Please email our new Safeguarding & Welfare Manager, Sarah Wassell... |

"With a background in Child and Adult Safeguarding, from both Statutory and Non-Statutory agencies, and a love of all things sport, I am thrilled to be part of the team at England Netball" - Sarah. |

Club Safeguarding Officer |
Why do clubs need a Club Safeguarding Officer (CSO)? This is an essential role for protecting children and adults at risk in a club/competition environment. It is vital to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all and provide a specific point of contact for any welfare matters arising.
Does the CSO need to be a Safeguarding expert? No - statutory agencies, as well as the EN LSO, can provide support and information. Alternatively, if you cannot deal with the Safeguarding matter within your own Club for whatever reason, please contact your County/Regional Safeguarding Lead for further advice. Further information on this role can be found below.
*Watch out for a further article offering support on how to recognise and deal with Safeguarding and Welfare Concerns.

1. Does your organisation have a Safeguarding/Welfare Officer? |
It is important to have someone whose role it is to ensure Safeguarding and Welfare is a high priority. This is not just limited to junior clubs. Adult Clubs, Leagues, Regions and Counties should also have someone in this role to support the welfare of all its members. Make sure you have added this individual to the role in ENgage so that they receive relevant communications. |
2. Do your members know who your Safeguarding/Welfare Officer is? And how to contact them in confidence? |
This information needs to be easily accessible and clearly visible e.g. on your website, displayed at venues. |
